Excerpts from a Cat’s Daily Diary. ..
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am.
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now…………….

“The Pale Blue Dot” is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by Voyager 1 from a record distance, showing it against the vastness of space. Carl Sagan called the photo of Earth from Voyager ‘a pale blue dot’… “That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. … There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world.”
I am a lazy bastard.
Why bend over when I can buy a tool to pick up things from the floor? I bought this handy device to help prevent too much more wear and tear on my back. I need a holster for it or perhaps a back scabbard? [click to embiggen]

Grocery Gardening
My sister sent me a copy of her new book. I plan on getting my head wrapped around it soon and will follow up with a glowing review I’m sure. The copy she sent me appears to be printed upside down but I will figure it out soon. Read more and get a copy here! For comparison purposes the book is pictured here with my local grocery gardening flyer.

A quick post – I’ll put a couple more up today. I wanted to show from the last entry that the little Hibiscus was once alive.
Tagged flowersNot just yet.
I’m looking out of my window at snow. We rarely get any snow around here, but today we have at least 8 inches or so now while it still falls. I was going to write about this little Hibiscus mortius but I don’t know what to say about it. It was pretty? It is a wonderful display of nothing. It sticks out of the ground pathetically, a sad reminder that plants don’t always work. I’m hopeful it’ll come back next year. I really have no idea if it’s an annual or perennial. I should google that. Today’s weather seems more fitting than the happy greenery around it in the first photo, teasing its untimely demise.
